This time Tejiendo Peru shows how to crochet hearts stitch using five colours.  Enjoy. Very easy stitch let you design and make many beautiful kinds of stuff like blankets, pillows, bedspreads, part of dress etc. This pattern should be read with a video tutorial to understand all questions. Enjoy!

Materials

  • Cotton yarn: white base colour and 5 background colours

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Straight needle
  • Crochet hook of 4.0 mm
  • Stitch marker

Stitches used:

  • Ch st
  • Sc
  • Dc
  • Sl st

Use white base colour. Start with a slip knot. *6 chs* rep. 3 times, 1 ch and place a stitch marker here.

Use other colour. Start with a slip knot.

R1: 3 chs and 2 dc in the 1st ch from the base, 3 chs, sk 5 chs from the base, 5 dc in the next ch from the base, continue the pattern until leaving 6 chs from the base (4 patterns in total), 3 chs, sk 5 chs from the base, 3 dc in the last ch from the base. (18)

Cut the yarn.

R2: Use the white base colour. Work 3 chs, 1 sl st in the 1st dc from R1, 1 ch, 1 sc in the same dc as sl st, 2 chs, sk 1 ch from the base, 1 dc in the 2nd ch from the base, 1 ch, , sk 1 ch from the base, 1 dc in next ch from the base, 2 chs, 1 sc in the central dc in the group of 5. Continue the pattern until reach last group of dc and work 1 sc in the 3rd and last dc of that group. (36)

Place a stitch marker in the last st. use another colour and start with a slip knot.

R3: 1 sl st in sc from R2, 1 ch, 1 sc, 1 ch, *sk 2 arches of 2 chs from R2, 5 dc, 3 chs* rep. 3 times, sk 2 arches of 2 chs from R2, 5 dc, 1 ch, 1 sc in 1 sc from R2. (54)

Cut the yarn and turn the work over. Remove the stitch marker and take the base white yarn.

R4: 3 chs, 1 dc in the arch of 2 chs from R2, *2 chs, 1 sc in the central dc of the group of 5 dc from R3, 2 chs, 1 dc in the arch of 3 chs from R2, 1 ch, 1 dc in the next arch of 2 chs from R2* rep. 3 times, 2 chs, 1 sc in the central dc of the group of 5 dc from R3, 2 chs, 1 dc in the next arch of 2 chs from R2, 1 dc in 1 dc from R3. Place the stitch marker in the last st. turn the work over.

Use another colour yarn and make a slip knot. Start in the 1st dc of R4.

R5: 3 chs and 2 dc in the 1st ch from the base, *3 chs, sk 5 chs from the base (2 arches of 2 chs), 5 dc in the next ch from the base* rep. 4 times until having 4 patterns in total, 3 chs, sk 5 chs from the base, 3 dc in the last ch from the base. (90)

R6: Use the white base colour.
