The upper part
R1: Make 94 chs. Work 1 dc in the 5th ch from the hook (the 4 skipped chs will represent 1 dc). *Make 1 dc in the next stitch* rep. until having 15 dc in total (together with the initial chs).
Make 2 chs of separation and work 15 dc.
Make 2 chs of separation and work 30 dc (this will be the back of the sweater – this is why it’s doubled).
Make 2 chs of separation and work 15 dc. And again make 2 chs and work 15 dc.
R2: Turn the work over and make 3 chs that will represent 1 dc. Work 1 dc in each st until reaching 2 separation chs (from R1). In the separation chs work 1 dc and 2 chs and one more dc. Work 1 dc in each st from the base until reaching next 2 separation chs and work the same way inside (2 dc separated by 2 chs to make a V shape). Work the same way to complete the Round. The amount of dc must correspond with the amount of dc in the previous Round plus 2 dc with 2 separation chs in each 2 separation chs from the previous Round.
Continue working Rounds the same way to have 10 Rounds in total.
The bottom part
R11: Cut the yarn. We will be working now using a purple yarn.
Make 3 chs that will represent 1st dc. Work 1 dc in each st until reaching separation chs.
Work 1 dc there and make 3 chs. The next step is to join 2 separation set of chs on both sides of the work with another dc as follows:
You can add one more chain or resign from putting the chains if you are not sure that it fits the size.
Now work 1 dc in each st from the base of the second part of the work until reaching next separation chs. Than join it with the separation chs on the other side the same way.
R12: Make 5 chs and turn the work over. Work 1 dc in the 3rd st from the base. *Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the base (skip 2 chs)* rep. until reaching the separation chs. Like this you will form a Round made of little squares. Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the middle of the separation chs (in the 2nd ch):
Skip 1 ch and 1 st and work one more dc:
*Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the base (skip 2 chs)* rep. until reaching the separation chs. Make 2 chs and skip all the 3 chs of separation and work 1 dc in the next part of the work. *Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the base* rep. until reaching the separation chs. Now we will have to increase one square. Make 2 chs and skip just 1 st from the base and work 1 dc. Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 1st ch of separation. Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 3rd separation ch:
*Make 2 chs and work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the base* rep. until completing the Round.
R13: In this Round we will be making fans (there will be 10 Rounds of fans). Make a sl st and make 3 chs that will represent 1 dc. Make 2 more dc. Make 2 separation chs and work 3 dc. We have now the 1st fan ready. *Skip next square from the base. Make 3 dc, 2 chs and 3 dc to make another fan* rep. until completing the Round.
R14: Turn the work over. Stitch first three stitches together and work another fan (work 3 dc, 2 chs and 3 dc).
Continue the same way making fans until reaching the end of the Round.
Next 2 Rounds will be working 8 dc (4 dc, 2 chs, 4 dc).
R15: Stitch first 3 st together and work 3 chs (that will represent 1 dc) in the center of the fan and work 3 more dc.
Make 2 separation chs and work 4 dc. *Work 4 dc in the next space. Make 2 chs and work 2 more dc* repeat until completing the Round.
Work the 16th Round the same way.
R17: Turn the work over. Stitch the first three st together to reach the center of the fan. Make 3 chs that will represent 1 dc. Work 3 more dc. Make 2 chs and 4 more dc. Make 1 separation ch and work another fan starting from the center of the fan from the previous Round. Continue the same all the round.
Work 18th and 19th Round the same way with just 1 separation ch.
Now we have already 6 rounds of fans and we will be working by 4 Rounds by 10 dc (each fan, separated by 1 ch).
R20: Turn the work over. Stitch first three st together to reach the center of the fan. Make 3 chs that will represent 1 dc and work 4 more dc. Make 2 separation chs and work 5 dc. Make 1 separation ch and work 5 dc in the next space. Make 2 separation chs and work 5 more dc.
Work the same way 21st, 22nd and 23rd Round.
Now there are 10 Rounds made of fans.
R24: Stitch first three st together and work 6 chs in the center of the fan. Now we will be working picot stitches.
Work 1 picot st in the 3rd ch from the hook. Make 1 separation ch and work 1 dc. Make 3 chs and work 1 picot st. Make 1 ch and work 1 dc. Make 3 chs and work 1 picot st. Make 1 ch and 1 dc. Make 3 chs and work a picot st. Make 1 ch and 1 dc. Make 3 chs and a picot st. Make 1 ch and 1 dc. Make 3 chs and a picot st. There will be 6 picot stitches in total.
Make 2 separation chs. Make 3 chs and 1 picot st.
Continue the same way to complete the Round.
The sleeve
Our sleeve will have 19 cm measuring from the neck – you can adjust yours to the dimensions that you wish. Incorporate the purple yarn in the separation chains.
R1: Let’s start with making a fan of 4 dc. Make 3 chs that will represent 1 dc. Work 1 dc and 2 separation chs. Make 2 dc. *Work 1 fan (2 dc, 2 separation chs, 2 dc) in the 4th dc from the base* rep. until completing the Round. Each 4 stitches from the base you will work a fan. There will be 10 fans in total in that Round. Work the 10th on as following:
Make the 10th fan in the square. End the Round with a sl st in the 3rd chain, where the Round started. Â Slip next 2 stitches together and work a fan in the middle of the fan from the base. Make another fan without the separation chs. Keep working Rounds of fans to have 14 Rounds in total.
The neck
R1: Make 3 chs in the 3rd ch from the base. *Work 1 fan (2 dc, 2 chs, 2 dc) in the 5th stitch from the base* rep. to complete the Round.
The last fan will be in the 4th stitch from the base (not the 5th one). Then work 1 dc in the 5th stitch from the base.
R2: Turn the work over. Make 3 chs and work a fan of 6 dc (3 dc, 2 chs, 3 dc). *Work another fan of 6 dc in the next stitch from the base* rep. to complete the Round.
R3: Turn the work over and make 3 chs. Work a fan of 6 dc.
There will be 4 Rounds in total.
The finishing
R1: Make 1 sc and work 2 sc in the dc from the base. *Work 2 sc in each dc from the base* rep. to complete the Round.
R2: *Work 2 sc in each dc from the base* rep. to complete the Round.
This will create a frame as a perfect detail. Stitch the buttons.
Your sweater is now ready!
Remember that you can always change the colours or mix them differently to make it look like you wish!
