Designed by Móhu and described by Príncipe del Crochet.

Materials needed:

  • a yarn of your choice
  • a crochet hook matching the yarn

Stitches used:

  • a slip stitch – sl st
  • a Magic Ring – MR
  • a single crochet – sc
  • an increase à 2 sc in the same stitch
  • a chain(s) – ch(s)

The main body

R1: Start with a MR of 6 stitches.

R2: Make 6 increases to have 12 stitches in the end of the Round.

R3: Work 1 sc and 1 increase in each stitch from the base to have in total 18 stitches.

R4: Work 2 sc and 1 increase and continue the same way to complete the Round. End the Round with 1 sc (24 stitches in total in R4).

Next Rounds: Work 95 sc.

The main part of the body is ready.

The bottom of the body

R1: Now we will work front loops.

Work 2 sc and 1 increase. Work the same way to complete the Round.

Work 2 sc and 1 increase. Work the same way to complete the Round.

R2: Work 1 sc. Make a triple increase (3 stitches in the same place). *Work 3 sc and a triple increase* rep. until completing the Round.

End the Round with 2 sc.

R3: Work 2 sc and make 5 increases:

*Work 5 sc and 5 increases* rep. until completing the Round.

*Work 5 sc and 5 increases* rep. until completing the Round.

End the Round with 3 sc.

Place the eyes in between the 7th and 8th Round counting from up. The second eye should be in the 8th stitch from the first eye (or closer if you prefer).

The ears

Make a sl st, make 4 chs and cut the yarn leaving it long. Incorporate the ear in the 3rd stitch from the top. Introduce the other side of the ear in the 2nd stitch from the top creating a small arch.

Do the same with the 2nd ear.

The bottom

Make a MR of 6 sc. Work 3 increases (12 stitches). Work *1 sc, 1 increase* rep. 6 times (18 stitches). Work *2 sc, 1 increase* rep. 6 times (24 stitches). Stitch the ready circle to the bottom of the octopus.

Your octopus is ready!
