Unicorn Crochet Stitch Free Written Pattern and Tutorial

This amazing crochet stitch has been inspired by the classic amigurumi unicorns which is very very popular. Now you can make other stuff like bags, borders, cushions, etc. with this stitch. Women duet Tejiendo Peru made this helpful tutorial. Enjoy.

  • Cotton yarn
  • For the white colour background crochet: white yarn for the background and 6 different colours for the patterns
  • For the colourful background crochet: 5 different colours of the yarn for the pattern and the background

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Crochet hook of 2.0 mm
  • Stitch marker

Stitches used:

  • Ch st
  • Sc
  • Dc
  • Sl st

White colour background crochet

An initial frame

Start with a slip knot, *6 chs* rep. 3 times, 5 chs.

The rest of the work

R1: 3 chs, sk 3 chs and work 1 dc in each ch of the frame. (23)

R2: Turn the work over, 3 chs, sk 3 chs and work 1 dc in each ch of the R1. (46)

R3: Work 3 chs, sk 3 chs and work 1 dc in each ch of the R2. (69)

Place a stitch marker in the last st.

Use second colour.

R4: Work 1 ch, *1 sc in 1 ch* rep. 2 times, work 1 sc and 12 chs in 1 sc, work 1 more ch, 1 sc in 1st ch out of 12, *3 dc in next ch* rep. 10 times, work 1 sc in the 12th ch, 1 sl st in the sc where we started 12 chs, *1 sc in 1 ch of the base* rep. 5 times, repeat the pattern to have 3 patterns in total, leaving 3 chs from the base, 1 sc and 12 chs, 1 more ch, 1 sc in 1st ch out of 12, *3 dc in next ch* rep. 10 times, work 1 sc in the 12th ch, make 1 sl st in the sc where we started 12 chs, *1 sc in 1 ch of the frame* rep. 2 times. Cut the yarn and start with the white one beginning from the stitch marker.

R5: Turn the work over, work 1 ch, make 1 sl st in the last sc of R4, work 3 chs, 1 dc in the next sc of R4, 1 dc in the sc with 12 chs from R4, *1 dc in 1 ch from the base* rep. 5 times.
