Shell stitch is versatile and absolutely beautiful. Once you try it, you will fall in love with it. You can create all sorts of things using it, but one of the most amazing ways to showcase it is by making crochet blankets. You can work in rows or start in the middle – there are so many designs featuring this technique!
Nicely shaped shells look great in different colors. Today’s selection of yarn gives us unbelievable possibilities in developing our own designs. Ombre yarns will give you lovely color transitions between rows, alternative hand-dyed one will create unusual color changes, and simply alternating the colors as you go will make a rainbow-colored beauty. Choose the palette wisely, as it will give your blanket the heart and the character. Take a look at examples below and search for links to free patterns under the pictures.
